Before I show you pictures of the vest, I have a couple of pictures I took Tuesday morning when I got up. We awoke to unexpected snowfall. (Not that it wasn't forecast, I just wasn't paying attention) The first picture is the view of the backyard. You can just see the not-yet-frozen creek in the background. The second shot is out my front windows. See the snow-covered mound just above the bushes? Yeah, that's my daughter's car. After my enthusiastic photo taking, my husband and I ate breakfast and admired the snow globe that the outdoors had become.
But what is pretty can also be poisonous. It was not long after these photos were taken that the snow started to mess up my day. First of all, school was cancelled. That meant my daughters would be home together all day, fighting over the computer and calling me to take sides. Why is it always the mom that gets those calls?
Then I had to drive to work. Not fun. When you grow up in the desert, I don't think you can ever truly become comfortable driving on snow. So I'm clenching the wheel and clenching my teeth, driving at a speed I feel is safe, and some IDIOT decides to tailgate me. And not just for a short stretch. Miles and miles this guy is riding my bumper and scaring me to death. I couldn't pull over to let him pass without getting stuck, so I had to sweat it out and pray I didn't have to make a sudden stop.
I was seriously stressed by the time I got to work and hoping for a quiet day. People don't want to take their kids out on bad roads to see the doctor, right? Wrong! Apparently a snow day is the perfect time to finally go in and check that rash/runny nose/insert trivial symptom here that hasn't really been bothering them enough to miss school for. We were crazy busy all day long.
The nice thing is that I can go home to my knitting. How do people without hobbies ever relax? There is nothing I love better at the end of a long day than curling up with my knitting and a mug of tea. It truly is my therapy.
And at the end of the day, you have something to show for it! Forgive the very dark picture. It was sunny (and 7 degrees!) today, but not by the time I bound off the v-neck tonight. This is pre-blocked and I haven't even woven in the ends yet, but I really wanted to get a picture posted. Even if tomorrow is really crazy, I'll get it blocked so I can post better pictures Friday when I don't have to go to
the bottomless pit of germs my office.
Meanwhile, let's go over this one more time: you blow your nose, you wash your hands. Any questions?
